stillmatic sickmatic ofmatic nasmatic

I haven't made a blog post today cause ummm I was extremely tired all day. Just absolutely exhausted. SO INSTEADDD I wanna talk about an album I like. Or y'know, just a song.

Represent. This song is fucking peak dude. The entirety of illmatic in general is just absolute peak but I was today years old when I learned that there was a live orchestral cover of the entirety of illmatic. And it is. Wow. I listened to it at first on Spotify, and I decided that this might be one of the best things I've ever listened to, but Spotify's audio quality is kind of inferior to every other streaming site ever. So I figured, "I'm not experiencing the full scope of this song properly, let me get on musi and have the song destroy my eardrums." And then I did, and it blasted into my ears so hard my neck twitched/spasmed/whatever and I instinctively turned the music down a bit to give myself a moment to, y'know, cool my shit. Then I turned my volume all the way back up and decided "okay, let's try this again." and I listened to it, and it turned my brain into mush. The orchestra, I LOVE IT. It makes the song so much better I wont lie. This song is like. Wow. I don't even really know how to do it justice with words it's just great dude. I'm obsessed.

Illmatic in general is such a great album dude when I first listened to it I had to listen to it aGAIN because I was just blown away by it. Kanye may be one of my favorite hip-hop artists but Nas is just one of the best, no doubt about it. It's actually crazy to think that he wrote one of the greatest rap albums of all time when he was only sixteen, and then dropped it when he was NINETEEN. What am I doing with my life. I have to kill myself. NY State of Mind, Represent, The World is Yours, It Aint Hard to Tell, god they're all such bangers. I gotta relisten to illmatic. and I ALSO need to listen to more Nas in general that isn't just If I Ruled the World or Ether. UGHHHH fuck my stupid baka life Nas is so good it makes me unwell like I feel angry GRAHHHH.

Oh yeah and another thing, the existence of the Orchestral version of illmatic reminds me of Late Orchestration. If I had a nickel for every orchestra rap album I knew existed I'd have two nickels. Which is great. I want more nickels. I NEED MORE NICKELS. Anywho, I listened to Late Orchestration while I was supposed to be watching Antman: Quantumania in theaters and listening to it was the only thing I remembered while watching that movie other than Kang dying at the end of it and the conflict between Antman and his daughter. The album is like, magical. It has my favorite version of Diamonds From Sierra Leone on it, which is my favorite song off of Late Registration. It makes me wish I was alive to be there live to witness the show. I was truly born in the wrong generation.

Also, second favorite Kanye second favorite album cover. Late registration takes the cake but I'll never not love this one. They could never make me hate you Late Orchestration. Mwah, love this album.
